Lego's DREAMZzz show's Season Two promotes lucid dreaming for children.
Have you ever experienced a lucid dream? According to a recent survey conducted by Lego, it seems that one out of every three children has had a taste of this fascinating phenomenon. As children, our dreams are incredibly vivid, and it appears that some of us have the ability to control them directly through lucid dreaming.

The research was commissioned by Lego for their new toy line, Lego DREAMZZzz, which also has a popular TV show. The second season of the show has just been released, and it dives into the concept of lucid dreaming, which they refer to as "dream crafting." Dream psychologist Ian Wallace explains that lucid dreaming is often an innate skill that is forgotten rather than learned. It is also known as hypnagogia, and both children and adults naturally go through this stage at least twice a night - once while falling asleep and once while waking up.

In the Lego DREAMZZzz show, the characters have the ability to create and change various objects or scenarios in their dreams using their creativity. Outside of the show, Wallace reveals that there are four main ways to "dream craft." Three of these methods can be done while the child is awake, and the fourth can be done while they are actually dreaming.

The first method is called Dream Play, where the child plays around with an image from their dream and re-imagines it in different scenarios. This helps them realize that they have power over the images they create in their minds. The second method is called Imaginal Play, where the child revisits and manipulates the dream image in different contexts, allowing them to explore new connections and relationships related to the image. The third method is Active Play, which encourages the child to reconstruct and act out their dream imagery using analogies and resemblances.

In the show, the characters are able to create and change objects in their dreams, similar to building with Lego. However, the DREAMZZzz sets come with multiple alternative designs that kids can choose from when building. In the show, the main characters use their dream crafting skills to challenge the series villain, the Never Witch.

Wallace explains that dream crafting is used in the show to illustrate how children can use their creativity to overcome challenges that may seem scary or threatening. Instead of feeling powerless, dream crafting inspires children to use their ingenuity to create positive outcomes for everyone involved.

The Lego survey also revealed that a large percentage of children are able to intentionally change their dreams. 41% said they can change their dreams when they turn into nightmares, and 38% claimed they can guide their dreams if they don't like how they're turning out. The most common things for children to dream about are friends, family members, school, parents and guardians, home, pets, and toys.

Wallace notes that the ability to lucid dream doesn't change much as we get older, as we naturally experience it briefly at least twice a night. However, as we age, our sleep quality may decrease due to various factors, including parental responsibilities.

The Lego DREAMZZzz series started last year and has received praise for its imaginative and diverse Lego sets, even from older fans. You can learn more about the sets on the official Lego website, and the show is available to watch on Lego's YouTube channel and other streaming platforms.
