During his inaugural address, Shashi Sekhar Mohanty, CEO of Essar Minnet Limited, highlighted the crucial role played by MSMEs in the value chain of the aluminium industry. He stated that in order for MSMEs to thrive, they require a secure supply of raw materials, technological support, operational efficiency, financial backing, and effective marketing. These are all key elements that can be provided by the larger aluminium downstream industries.

Bibhu Mishra, advisor for Hindalco, further expanded on the theme and emphasized the company's significant presence in the state. As a global leader in aluminium, Hindalco produces downstream products that are used as inputs for a diverse range of end products, from food packaging to battery enclosures. Mishra explained that the market for these innovative products is expanding, creating ample growth opportunities for businesses based in Odisha.

The workshop saw the participation of notable figures such as Pradipta Mohanty, chairman of SNM group, Ramanuj Narayan, director of IIMT, and Sanjeeb Mohapatra, vice president of UCCIL. Collectively, they highlighted the critical role of MSMEs in driving innovation, employment, and regional economic development in the downstream aluminium sector.
