Kodava Inter-Keri Badminton Tournament Gets Underway

Virajpet, Oct. 13: Sports are essential for everyone to maintain good physical and mental health, stated Ajjikuttira S. Ponnanna, MLA of the Virajpet constituency and Political Secretary to the Chief Minister.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the "Kodava Inter-Keri Badminton Tournament" held at the indoor badminton stadium in Chikkapete, Virajpet.

After officially inaugurating the tournament, the MLA noted that badminton—a sport renowned for centuries—continues to attract people in rural areas. He remarked that organizing this tournament within the Kodava Inter-Keri community provides an excellent opportunity for local badminton talent to showcase their skills.

Speaking subsequently, MLC Suja Kushalappa observed that organizing such sporting events at rural and local levels helps bring to the forefront talent that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Ammanichanda Ravi Uthappa, President of the Virajpet Kodava Samaja, also spoke, emphasizing that it is the duty of all to encourage the traditional and popular sports of the region. He stated that such inter-neighborhood badminton tournaments not only foster unity among locals but also help in identifying young talent.
