In a recent press briefing, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed his plans to visit the BJP headquarters on March 19. He stated that he and other leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would willingly go to jail if the Prime Minister deemed it necessary. Kejriwal also mentioned that the BJP has threatened to send AAP MP Raghav Chadha and Delhi ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj to jail in connection with the alleged assault on Swati Maliwal, a member of their party.
Despite these threats, Kejriwal remained confident and declared that the AAP cannot be destroyed by throwing its leaders in jail. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of targeting the AAP by imprisoning leaders like Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, and Sanjay Singh. In fact, Kejriwal and his team of MLAs and MPs had planned to visit the BJP office the next day to show their fearlessness and willingness to face any consequences.
Kejriwal emphasized that the AAP is more than just a political party, it is an idea. No matter how many leaders they jail, the country will continue to produce new leaders who believe in the same ideals as the AAP. He also pointed out that the reason for the BJP's attack on the AAP is because their government in Delhi has accomplished many significant things such as building good schools, setting up Mohalla Clinics, providing free treatment, and ensuring 24/7 power supply, which the BJP could not do.
Kejriwal himself has faced imprisonment in the past in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. However, he has been granted interim bail till June 1 by the Supreme Court so that he can campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. After the last phase of polling on June 1, he will have to surrender and go back to jail. Kejriwal remains determined to continue fighting for his party and its beliefs, no matter the challenges that come their way.
