It is a traditional idea that no agricultural work that harms the environment should be done to give rest to mother earth.

Keddas is also known as the hunting festival. Since it was a time of rest, people used to fish in streams. Also, wild animals get pain in their legs during this time, so they can be hunted easily. Therefore, women also used to hunt with a stick. Overall, Keddasa is known as a festival of rest and a festival of non-vegetarian food, he said.

Union Vice President Hosoklu Latha Monnappa spoke and said that Keddasa festival is celebrated only in Kodagu-Dakshina Kannada districts. Especially, there are differences in the celebrations according to the region. As far as we know, celebrating such rare festivals as per the ancient custom will not only help the next generation to know our traditional celebrations but also nourish them. He said that it will also introduce us to the celebrations of our community.
