JPMorgan Chase partners with Rock Nation School of Music at LIU to offer first-ever financial health course.
JPMorgan Chase is taking an important step to help Black American students pursue their career and entrepreneurial goals. The nation's largest bank is investing $350,000 in a new partnership with the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment at Long Island University.

The alliance aims to benefit nearly 150 students by providing them with strong financial management skills. It will also help them build a secure financial future. The school was established in 2020 by the rapper and business mogul Jay-Z. It offers degree programs to prepare students for careers in performance, entrepreneurship, music, sports business, and management.

The funding from JPMorgan Chase will be used for scholarships and technical assistance to the school, as well as financial coaching for the students. About 15 students will be able to receive scholarships, each paying $7,500 for one-year tuition. The investment will also contribute to the school's Hope Scholarship program, which offers tuition-free education to 25% of incoming students.

The 16-week course at LIU's Brooklyn campus will cover topics such as credit building, homebuying, and fraud/scam prevention. It will feature guest speakers, including UCLA football standout Chase Griffin, New York Giants legend Victor Cruz, and JPMorgan Chase executives. They will share their experience and expertise to help students succeed academically, professionally, and personally.

Diedra Porché, managing director and head of Community Banking and Development at Chase, said: "At JPMorgan Chase, we're proud to partner with LIU’s Roc Nation School, breaking down financial barriers for college students in Brooklyn. Together, we’re providing the essential resources and support our future leaders need to shape their career and financial futures."

The grant will also provide the Roc Nation School with aid from the National Council for Workforce Education. This will help ensure the program is sustainable and can be used to help students develop healthy financial habits.

Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez highlighted the importance of giving students the tools and resources they need to succeed. She said: "With the addition of JPMorgan Chase’s financial health course, students will be poised to make stronger and more informed financial decisions in a way that can profoundly shape the trajectory of their lives and careers."

JPMorgan Chase's partnership with the Roc Nation School is a great initiative to help Black American students reach their goals. It will give them the knowledge and support they need to build a successful financial future. To find out more information, visit their website.
