Jagannath and siblings get better, ready for Puri Rath Yatra.
A group of experienced Daitapatis and Pati Mahapatra servitors from the revered Sri Jagannath temple had the opportunity to meet with the Gajapati King on Wednesday. They came to inform the King about the successful recovery of Lord Jagannath, His elder brother Lord Balabhadra, and their sister Devi Subhadra from their illness.

In a grand procession, the servitors, bearing Ghantas, Chhatas, and Kahalis, made their way to the Sri Nahar situated near the Badadanda, adjacent to the Srimandir. This ceremony, known as "Rajprasad Bije," is a significant event where the Gajapati King, who is considered the most prominent servitor of Lord Jagannath, is informed of the deities' well-being.

The servitors joyfully shared with the King that the deities are now successfully recovering from their fever in the Anasarghar of the temple. It was revealed that with the administration of Phuluri oil and Dasmula Oushadhi, the deities' health has significantly improved. As a symbol of their recovery, the deities have changed out of their white garments and are now adorned in vibrant colors. They have also been placed on raised platforms called "Chaka Bije."

The servitors also informed the King that the deities are expected to be ready to embark on their annual nine-day journey to the Gundicha temple on July 7. This news brought great excitement as it was a rare occasion, occurring only once every 53 years, according to the temple almanac. This year, the Netra Utsav, Nabajouban Vesha, and Rath Yatra will all take place on the same day, July 7.

The Gajapati King advised the servitors to diligently carry out all the rituals and ceremonies according to the prescribed schedule. He also expressed his delight in having the honor of hosting the President, Droupadi Murmu, who will be witnessing the Rath Yatra for the first time this year. The Gajapati King urged all the servitors to perform their duties with utmost dedication and timeliness.

Moreover, the Gajapati King shared that the Justice Arijit Pasayat committee is expected to hold a meeting on July 5. He also mentioned that there are plans to open the Bhitar Ratna Bhandar of the temple, which has been closed for a long time.

According to the temple sources, after recovering from their illness, the deities will undergo the Banaklagi Seva, a special ritual to rejuvenate and give them a youthful appearance. This news delighted everyone, and it was evident that the temple servitors were eagerly looking forward to the upcoming festivities.
