Isabella Strahan, the 19-year-old daughter of Michael Strahan, has been bravely sharing her journey battling brain cancer. In her latest YouTube vlog, she documented her preparations for surgery at Duke University Hospital Cancer Center to implant a chemotherapy port in her chest.
"I'm about to get my port placed today, which is a device that goes on your chest for administering chemo, getting my blood drawn, all that fun stuff," Isabella shared in her Feb. 7 video titled "Vlog #6: Needles are no fun!" She admitted that the procedure was not her favorite and nervously awaited the IV drip.
Despite some difficulty in finding her veins, Isabella remained positive and smiled through her discomfort. The vlog also showed her taking a break from her busy treatment schedule to play cards with her aunt. "Healing from my port surgery...not fun at all," she shared. "I now have a wire in my chest and have to go through a series of tests and procedures, including an MRI."
This is not the first time Isabella has opened up about her brain tumor. In a Jan. 11 episode of Good Morning America, she sat alongside her father, who is a co-anchor on the show, and shared her journey with medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor. The teen was diagnosed in October 2023 during her freshman year at the University of Southern California when she was developing a fast-growing four-centimeter tumor in the back of her brain.
The tumor was successfully removed on Oct. 27, and Isabella then underwent a month of rehabilitation and several rounds of radiation treatment. Despite the challenges she has faced, Isabella remains strong and determined to beat cancer.
