St. John’s: In exciting news for cricket fans, it has been announced that the West Indies will be hosting three top teams - South Africa, England, and Bangladesh - for a multi-format series between May and December 2024. This series will showcase the best of international cricket and give fans a chance to see their favorite players in action.
The home tours will kick off with a series against South Africa, with three T20 Internationals taking place at Sabina Park starting on May 23. This will be just before the start of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, making it an exciting lead-up to the tournament. After a tour to England in July, where the West Indies will play Test matches, the Proteas will return to the Caribbean for a two-Test series in Trinidad and Guyana, followed by a three-match T20 series at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad. This will all take place just before the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League, adding to the excitement.
In October, the West Indies will head to Sri Lanka for a white-ball tour, before hosting England from October 31. The English team will play three ODIs and five T20Is across three islands - Antigua, Barbados, and St Lucia. Then, in November and December, Bangladesh will visit the West Indies for an all-format tour. This will include two Test matches in Antigua and Jamaica, three ODIs in St. Kitts & Nevis, and three T20Is in St Vincent. Notably, the West Indies will make a return to the Arnos Vale Ground in St Vincent for the first time since 2014. Before the Tests in Antigua, Bangladesh will also play a warm-up game.
CWI Chief Executive Johnny Grave expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming series, stating, "We are delighted to announce our West Indies Men’s Home Series for the remainder of the year. This will see South Africa, England, and Bangladesh play in eight of our host countries in the West Indies, including Saint Vincent for the first time since 2012." He also mentioned the improvements made to the National Stadium in Grenada and Windsor Park in Dominica, which unfortunately could not host international cricket this year, but will be ready for action in 2025.
Fans can already purchase tickets online for the first series against South Africa in Jamaica, and tickets for the England tour will be available through the official travel partners later in the year. Tickets for all other matches are expected to go on sale in July, after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Grave urged fans to show their support for the West Indies team as they strive for a historic third T20 World Cup title and work towards securing important points in the ICC World Test Championship. It's sure to be an action-packed year for cricket in the Caribbean!
