Iconic star of Neighbours announces their return to the show with a specified date.
Get excited, Neighbours fans! The Agency has an exclusive update for you. Our beloved Harold Bishop is making his highly-anticipated return to Ramsay Street. And we have the inside scoop on when he'll be gracing our screens once again.

Last time we saw Harold, he was taking off on a trip around Australia with his friend Karl Kennedy. But before that, he had some life-changing news. Remember when he was struggling with memory loss? Well, it turns out it was all because of the side effects of his blood pressure medication. But now, he's back and better than ever.

Before his departure, Harold was staying with his old pals at No. 28. He even provided a shoulder to cry on for Mackenzie Hargreaves after her husband's tragic passing. In an exclusive video, Ian, the actor who plays Harold, expressed his excitement for his full-time return and revealed the date we can expect to see him back on our screens.

"Hello there, it's been a while," Ian begins with a smile. "I am coming back to the show and I couldn't be happier. I was retired and don't get me wrong, I enjoyed retirement – but between you and me, I'm 85 years old. You need youngsters around you to keep you young, and we've got the best bunch of youngsters here. They're fun and they're good."

Harold will be reunited with his old pal Toad. And let's not forget his new friendship with Haz, the café owner. "Anyway, I'm back on May 28th," Ian continues. "Not only will I be back in the show, but I'll also be in the first part where everyone is running around to music and singing. Well, I'll be running around and singing too. Will you be my friend? See ya!"

For those who may not know, Harold first appeared on the show in 1987. And in a surprising twist, he became Mrs. Mangel's lodger. But later on, he settled down with his new wife Madge at No. 24. Unfortunately, he was let go from the show in 1991 due to declining viewership. But five years later, he returned with amnesia and believed he was a Salvation Army tuba player named Ted.

Ian is actually the only Neighbours cast member to have a Madame Tussauds waxwork made in his likeness. And now, he's back in action and ready to entertain us once again.

After being reminded of everything he had lost in Erinsborough, Harold easily slipped back into everyday life. He even opened up Bishop & Carpenter's General Store at Lassiter's Complex alongside Lou. He made a few more guest appearances before leaving again in 2009. And in 2015, he returned for the soap's 30th anniversary, where he was visited by the ghost of his late wife, Madge.

In 2022, Channel 5 in the UK stopped funding for the show, leading to its end. To celebrate the end of an era, many former familiar faces returned for the final months, including Harold. And this time, his role was much more substantial as he tried to convince Toadie not to marry Melanie Pearson.

It has been reported that when he returns, Harold will be living at Terese Willis and Jane Harris' retirement development, Eirini Rising. Don't forget to catch Neighbours on Amazon Freevee from Monday to Thursday at 7am, with a library of classic episodes available to stream now.
