Next week in Hollyoaks, Abe Fielding's lies catch up with him and he's forced to face the consequences of his actions. It all starts when some of the villagers begin to suspect that Cleo McQueen's disappearance may not be as far away as they initially believed.
As viewers know, Cleo was taken by Abe just before the show jumped one year into the future. In the subsequent episode, it was revealed that she had been held captive by Abe for an entire year. However, the rest of the McQueen family is under the impression that she is in Bali, recovering from the trauma that Abe put her through.
But in reality, Cleo had tried to escape a few weeks ago, only to be forced back into captivity by Abe's manipulation. In a heated confrontation, Cleo was injured by Abe's actions. He then abandoned her for weeks while he went on holiday with Peri Lomax, who surprisingly gave him another chance despite his treatment of Cleo.
During this time, Cleo's wound became infected and Abe had to return home to take care of her. But instead of taking her to the hospital, he used her hospital pass to obtain the antibiotics she needed. However, when the pass didn't work, Abe was forced to steal Peri's pass in order to get the medicine. Luckily, Cleo recovered from her infection.
Abe thought he had gotten away with it, but his actions do not go unnoticed. Misbah Maalik becomes suspicious when she discovers that Cleo's pass was used recently. She mentions it to Peri, who starts to wonder if Cleo is back from Bali and picking up her belongings. This thought alarms Peri and she starts to investigate.
Meanwhile, Peri confides in Marie about her suspicions, but Abe notices her strange behavior and confides in Cleo. She advises him to keep up the pretense of their engagement while secretly planning to marry him when the time comes. Peri also confides in Marie about Cleo's return, but Marie reassures her that Abe loves her and she has nothing to worry about.
Joel Dexter, however, becomes suspicious about Cleo's return and Abe desperately tries to shut him down. But will Joel find out the truth and save Cleo? Only time will tell. Meanwhile, Leela is not happy about Joel's interest in Cleo and tells him to stop worrying about his ex.
