Bhubaneswar: Hema Malini, a renowned Hindi film actress and a star campaigner for the BJP, expressed her disappointment with the BJD government in Odisha, stating that they have failed to bring about significant development in the state and should consider stepping down.
During her campaign for party candidates in Bhubaneswar, Malini highlighted the fact that while the BJD government boasts of their achievements in the past 25 years, the reality is that there is still a lot of work to be done. She also pointed out the increase in corruption, crimes against women, and unemployment in the state under their rule. Malini believes that it is time for Odisha to join hands with the energetic Modi government, which has shown great progress in various areas, and reap the benefits.
The actress, who is well-known for her love for nature and tourism, expressed her disappointment with the lack of development in this sector in Odisha. She believes that the BJD government has not paid enough attention to this potential source of revenue for the state.
Malini also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his initiatives towards the development of the underprivileged sections of society, such as the poor, women, Dalits, tribals, and backward classes. However, she expressed her sadness over the fact that these schemes and initiatives have not reached the people of Odisha.
She further stated that despite the allocation of Rs 18 lakh crore funds by the Modi government for the state, she has not seen significant development. According to Malini, a double-engine government comprising the state and central government will be the key to the development of Odisha.
The veteran actress conducted roadshows in Kishorenagar, Cuttack, and Pipili, Puri district. She also addressed a public meeting in Satyabadi under the Puri Lok Sabha constituency.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, also campaigned for the party candidates in Kabisuryanagar assembly constituency in Ganjam district, and Kantabanji & Loisingha assembly segments in Bolangir district. Sarma stated that Naveen Patnaik, the current Chief Minister of Odisha, is no longer fit for the position and that it is time for a dynamic leader to take charge and drive the state forward.
To encourage voters to vote for the BJP, Sarma appealed to them to vote for the lotus symbol for both the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections, in order to take the state and its pride, 'Odia Asmita', to new heights.
In addition, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma also campaigned for BJP nominees in Sanakhemundi, Daspalla, and G Udayagiri assembly constituencies of Odisha on Friday.
