EastEnders fans are in for a treat as Kathy Beale and Cindy Beale are set to reunite in a showdown that promises some explosive scenes. Actress Gillian Taylforth, who plays Kathy, has teased what's in store for viewers.
“As you can imagine, Kathy and Cindy together, the woman that tried to have her son killed, and now she just returns from the dead… There were fireworks!” Taylforth said. “Great scenes, well written and it was great to play those with Michelle. It wasn’t easy going, the scenes we did together. Easy for us to do, but as you can imagine, fireworks were going left, right and centre in those scenes! And they were great to film.”
Though the two have had a long history of animosity, they now have something in common: they have both faked their own deaths. Kathy did this to escape Gavin Sullivan and his loan sharks, while Cindy has been living in witness protection after providing information to the police.
And Kathy isn't the only one who has a grudge against Cindy. Elaine Peacock, who has formed a nice friendship with Kathy, also has her own reason to dislike Cindy. She was married to Cindy's new identity, Rose, while Cindy was living in witness protection with her husband, George Knight.
Gillian Taylforth teased that Kathy and Elaine could become firm friends, sticking up to each other when it comes to Cindy.
“And I think Kathy and Elaine are relatively age-wise the same – don’t tell Elaine I said that though because she won’t have that! – so I think there could be a good friendship there,” Taylforth said.
It's unclear how Cindy will return to the Square, but one thing is for sure - it's going to be explosive!
