Is this the dumbest Starfield related take yet? People have been going off the rails since the announcement of this Xbox exclusive game, with some even going so far as to start a petition for the game to become a PlayStation exclusive. But this has got to take the cake.
Alanah Pearce, a writer at God Of War developer Santa Monica Studio, has recently been playing and livestreaming Starfield. This prompted one Twitter user to make the ludicrous suggestion that she should be fired for ‘promoting’ a rival product. They even tagged PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst and Santa Monica Studio’s Cory Barlog, as if they were exposing Pearce’s crimes to her bosses.
Pearce responded to this ridiculousness in a video, pointing out that not only is she not doing anything wrong, but that both Barlog and Hulst are currently enjoying Starfield themselves. She also explained that the console wars don't really exist within the industry, saying that ‘there are only so many jobs available in game development,’ and people are often sharing between companies.
The Twitter user's tweet quickly spread, and soon enough they disabled replies. Even if they hadn't, though, it's safe to say that no reasonable person would agree with their suggestion. In fact, Pearce mentions how the commenter temporarily disabled replies when their tweet took off.
The commenter has yet to apologise or retract their statement, instead opting to make a snarky comment about Pearce's response video. They need to grow up. The games industry is a far more collaborative place than they seem to think, with people from all different companies often sharing and working together. There's no need for such pettiness.
