Free adoption to help pets find homes after fire at animal shelter.
There has been a recent fire at the Humane Society Silicon Valley, leaving many animals in urgent need of homes. Fortunately, there is a way for you to lend a helping hand - by adopting a furry friend! Whether it be a dog, cat, or both, you can make a difference in the lives of these animals without spending a dime. Thanks to a generous donation, adoption fees at the Milpitas shelter have been temporarily covered, making it easier to find these animals their forever homes while the shelter deals with the aftermath of the fire.

In a Facebook post, HSSV shared the news of the sponsored adoption fees, expressing the need for support now more than ever. They encourage potential adopters to visit their website to meet all of the animals in need of a home. The fire occurred on December 16th at the shelter's facility on Ames Street. Although it started in the laundry room, the damage spread to other areas of the shelter. After a week of assessment, it was determined that half of the shelter was damaged, including the medical center and animal-holding areas. The adoption area also suffered damage, leaving only a portion of the floor operational. Thankfully, no one, including staff, volunteers, or animals, were harmed during the fire.

HSSV expressed their gratitude for the hard work of their employees and the outpouring of support from the community in response to the fire. They acknowledged the tireless efforts of their staff and volunteers, as well as those who stepped up to help in any way they could. Despite the challenges, the shelter managed to reopen for adoptions within 48 hours of the fire, and over 100 animals found their forever homes in the following week. Additionally, over 90 animals were placed in foster homes within just two days of the fire.

While the shelter is still recovering from the damage caused by the fire, they are still in need of donations to help cover the costs and continue their mission of finding homes for pets. If you are able to, please visit hssv.org for more information on how you can support their efforts. Every little bit helps in making a positive impact on the lives of these animals.
