The adoption area also suffered damage, leaving only a portion of the floor operational. Thankfully, no one, including staff, volunteers, or animals, were harmed during the fire.
HSSV expressed their gratitude for the hard work of their employees and the outpouring of support from the community in response to the fire. They acknowledged the tireless efforts of their staff and volunteers, as well as those who stepped up to help in any way they could. Despite the challenges, the shelter managed to reopen for adoptions within 48 hours of the fire, and over 100 animals found their forever homes in the following week. Additionally, over 90 animals were placed in foster homes within just two days of the fire.
