Frank Lampard has been singing the praises of Chelsea's Mykhailo Mudryk, revealing that he tried to sign the Ukraine international while he was managing Everton.
Mudryk, who cost the Blues £88.5m in January, scored his first goal for the club on Monday in their 2-0 win over rivals Fulham. The 22-year-old worked with Lampard last season when he stepped in as head coach on a short-term deal.
Lampard, speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the win at Craven Cottage, praised Mudryk for his pace, technical ability, and finishing skills. He said: "He's a compulsive finisher in a positive way. He would stay out after training to shoot. He is a very good finisher. We wanted to buy him at the time but it was probably never going to happen."
The Chelsea legend went on to explain that Mudryk's pace is proving difficult for opponents to handle and that his end product could be improved which is "typical for a young player". He concluded: "People are now aware of his pace and are trying to stop him from running at them. We know the impact he can have."
It's clear to see that Frank Lampard has immense faith in Mykhailo Mudryk and it's understandable why. The 22-year-old has all the qualities to become a world-beater and it's only a matter of time before he starts showing his true potential.
