February 9th 2025.
Popular TV hosts Stephen Mulhern and Holly Willoughby were in for a rollercoaster of emotions as they witnessed yet another celebrity bid farewell to the ice rink on the latest episode of Dancing On Ice. The competitive show had its first dreaded skate-off of the year 2025 and unfortunately, it was time to say goodbye to one of the remaining stars.
Former footballer Anton Ferdinand, 39, and Love Island heartthrob Chris Taylor, 34, faced off against each other in hopes of impressing the judges - Oti Mabuse, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo, and Jayne Torvill. With all four judges unanimously voting to save Anton and his partner Annette Dytrt, it was a heartbreaking moment for Chris and his partner Robin Johnstone as they had to say their goodbyes and leave the competition.
Anton set the bar high with his energetic salsa routine to Ricky Martin's hit song "Livin' La Vida Loca," earning a score of 34. Chris followed with his graceful performance to "Golden Hour" by JVKE, impressing the judges and receiving a score of 32. However, it was not an easy journey for Chris as his original skating partner Vanessa Bauer had to withdraw due to an unfortunate injury backstage, leaving him to team up with Robin.
Love Island star Chris Taylor became the fourth celebrity to be eliminated, after going head to head with Anton in the dreaded skate-off. The competition continued as Traitors star Mollie Pearce, 23, channeled her inner cheerleader for her performance to "Hot To Go!" by Chappell Roan, earning a score of 29.5. Next up was Countryfile presenter Michaela Strachan, 58, who gracefully glided across the ice with her partner Mark Hanretty, earning a score of 35.5 for their routine to "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol.
EastEnders actress Charlie Brooks, 43, also had a strong performance with a score of 32, which happened to be her personal best on Dancing On Ice so far. She had to switch partners last minute due to an injury sustained by her original partner Eric Radford, with Brendyn Hatfield stepping in to take over.
The Only Way Is Essex star Dan Edgar stole the show with the highest score of the series so far - 38 out of 40! He took on the dangerous head-banger move with his partner Vanessa James, along with lifts and a cartwheel launch, all while skating to "Lionheart" by Joel Corry and Tom Grennan.
Last but not least, Coronation Street's Sam Aston, who scored 33 points for his routine to "Die With A Smile" by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars with his partner Molly Lanaghan. While the judges praised his skating skills, they felt that the performance needed more passion.
It's been an emotional journey for all the celebrities on Dancing On Ice, and unfortunately, Olympic rower Sir Steve Redgrave, 62, had to bid farewell last week, following the eliminations of Chelsee Healey and Ferne McCann. The competition continues next week, so make sure to tune in at 6.30pm on Sunday on ITV and ITX to see who will impress the judges and who will have to hang up their skates. And if you have a celebrity story, video, or pictures, don't hesitate to get in touch with the entertainment team at The Agency - they would love to hear from you!
