Flyers promoting white supremacy were thrown in the yards of an Atlanta suburb.

Victims believe harassment was a way to exploit mass shooting tragedy.

July 27th 2023.

On July 23, the residents of Legacy Lake subdivision in Hampton, Georgia, were horrified to find racist flyers in their yards. The flyers contained phrases such as “Secure A White Future” and “Have More White Babies”, and were found in bags along residents' driveways.

The victims of this hate crime believe the perpetrators were exploiting the recent mass shooting tragedy that occurred in the area. Four people were fatally shot by a Black assailant, and the flyers also listed the shooter's race and his victims, further proving this theory.

Khloe Branch, one of the residents who was targeted, said that the perpetrators “could be dangerous”. Surveillance footage captured the incident at 12:45 a.m., and city officials expressed their disappointment and anger when they heard about it.

The City Manager of Hampton, Alex Cohilas, said, “We are deeply disappointed someone has littered our city with this garbage. This is not representative of our city, our citizens, or our values. We condemn it as disgusting, divisive, and exploitative of a highly tragic event. Our police are aggressively investigating to find out who is behind it. Detectives already have a significant lead.”

The residents of Legacy Lake are now in fear of white supremacy rising in their neighborhood. The Mayor's Office has launched an investigation in collaboration with the local police and the Atlanta field office of the FBI.

In light of these events, one resident had a message for the perpetrators: “I feel sorry for them, because you don’t want to take the time to do this, and you want to bother people. You want to hate on people. Why don’t you try love?”
