Alan Carr's ex-husband Paul Drayton has responded to comments the Chatty Man star made about their split and his relationship with celebrity pal Adele.
The former couple were together for 13 years and married for three before they announced their separation in January 2022 and then divorced in April that same year. Paul has said that they remain on friendly terms, and share out spending time with their dogs.
However, he took exception to Alan speaking out about their divorce arrangement during a TV appearance last August.
In particular, Alan had joked his ex's lawyer had demanded half of everything, quipping that they'd 'divvied up our celebrity friends'. He then added, 'I get Adele. Paul gets Gok [Wan] on weekends.'
Paul told The Sun on Sunday that he was upset by the comment, as it had suggested he was being greedy. He said he texted Alan afterwards to express his feelings, but received no response.
Adele, who is one of Paul's best friends and was actually closer to him than Alan, was also sent the clip and replied with a message to 'take the high road'. Paul praised Adele for being 'amazing at giving advice' and said he is confident that 'whenever I need her, she will be there for me because she's a loyal friend and an incredible person'.
Paul also denied Alan's claim that he had asked for half of everything in their divorce settlement, saying he and Alan had in fact agreed to it fairly and amicably. He also said he was confident that Adele would remain a loyal friend, and that some of Alan's friends had stopped speaking to him.
Adele was actually ordained to officiate the former couple's wedding in 2018, following Paul's proposal, with the party planner writing out the vows and being one of just six people present.
Alan and Paul announced their split in 2022 in a joint statement, and Alan has since opened up on the reasons behind it, citing Paul's alcohol addiction as being 'too much to cope with'. He has also said he is 'tentatively looking' for a new partner and 'companionship' - but not someone famous.
