Etape Caledonia has announced the addition of a new cycling route, giving cyclists even more options for exploring Scotland.
The Etape Caledonia road cycling race has added a third route option for next month’s event – a 55-mile course! With the existing 40- and 85-mile routes already proving popular, the new route begins in Pitlochry and takes cyclists through Trinafour, Kinloch Rannoch, Schiehallion, Coshieville, Weem, Grandtully and Ballinluig.

Gary Willis, technical director at Limelight Sports Club – the race organiser – said: “We wanted to provide a more challenging option for cyclists, without them having to commit to the 85-mile route. The 55-mile option is a great step up from the 40-mile route, with some meaty climbs!

The interest in the new route has been overwhelming since its launch to Limelight Sport Club members. Craig Dews, Limelight's chief executive, added: “This new option is an exciting addition to our existing routes, and provides seasoned 40-mile cyclists with an opportunity to work towards taking on the 85-mile route.”

So if you're looking for a cycling challenge this May, Etape Caledonia is the perfect event for you! Read more stories on Scottish Field’s news pages and look out for the April issue of Scottish Field magazine.
