On Tuesday morning, the Sleuth of Ujjain Economic Offence Wing (EOW) had a big success. They managed to trap a patwari from Dewas who was accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000 from a farmer. DSP Ajay Kethwas informed the media about the incident.
The complainant, Bansilal Patel, had approached the EOW after the patwari, Babulal Panchal, demanded Rs 20,000 from him for some work related to the division of land. Patel had already paid Panchal Rs 8,000, but he was yet to get his work done.
After verifying the allegation, the EOW team laid a trap and caught Panchal red-handed while he was accepting the bribe at his Vikas Nagar residence in Dewas. He was booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The incident came to light the same day when MLA of Madhya Pradesh was laying foundation stones of road development work in Dewas. Moreover, a 23-year-old woman from the same district had consumed acid after her stalker forced her to leave her husband and marry him.
