Emmanuel Petit believes that Marcus Rashford has the potential to contend for the Ballon d’Or award at Old Trafford but maintains that he would not trade Arsenal ace Bukayo Saka for the Manchester United forward.
Rashford is experiencing a career-best year at the Theatre of Dreams and netted his 28th goal of the season to support United in defeating Newcastle in Sunday’s EFL Cup final.
The 25-year-old has been one of the most in-form players on the planet since the World Cup, scoring 17 goals in 19 appearances since his return from Qatar.
Petit says Rashford looks a ‘totally different player’ as compared to the one that had a tough time at Manchester United last season and claims that he can vie for Ballon d’Or honours on his present form.
But the France World Cup winner would still not trade Saka for the Manchester United star, tipping the fellow England international to be the captain of Arsenal one day.
Saka has featured in more than 150 contests for Arsenal since making his debut with the first-team in 2019, becoming one of the essential players in the Gunners’ Premier League title charge this season.
When queried who he prefers out of Rashford and Saka, Petit told Premier League Odds: ‘I would love to have them both on my team.

‘Marcus Rashford was so dejected last season and he was losing his assurance, but now he is a totally different player and back to optimum standards. He is also very proficient.
‘Saka, however, is very significant for Arsenal and does fantastic things on the field.
‘I am a massive admirer of Saka and the way he plays – I think he will be the skipper of Arsenal in the years to come.
‘Both players are so important and proficient for their clubs. I think they could participate in the Ballon d’Or competition, if they continue to play the way they are.
‘I love them both but as a Gunner I would remain loyal to Bukayo Saka.’
Manchester United, following their EFL Cup success, will battle West Ham in the FA Cup on Wednesday night while Premier League leaders Arsenal will host Everton.
