Emeli's ex's last words before fatal stabbing revealed:
Last June, tragedy struck the music industry as the ex-boyfriend of Emeli Sande, rapper Hypo, was killed at a Jubilee party. According to a court hearing this week, 39 year-old Lamar Jackson, otherwise known as Hypo, was heard shouting “I’ve been stabbed” before collapsing on the floor.

Security guard Laurie John-Phillip, 33, has been charged with the murder of Lamar Jackson, who was a familiar face in Hackney, East London. The Old Bailey heard that on June 3rd, between 400 and 500 people had descended on a “really busy” party at Woodford Town Football Club in East London.

Jackson had dated Sande for a year prior to their split in 2017. Laurie John-Phillip, nicknamed “Bigga”, had arrived at the party to begin his shift at 4pm. Four hours later, Lamar Jackson turned up in a black Bentley driven by his friend Obi Benson-Okpala.

CCTV showed an altercation had taken place between the defendant and Lamar Jackson that night, involving John-Phillip’s cousin Kieron Ceasar, nicknamed “Tiny”. As the party was ending and lights were turned on, Benson-Okpala heard a woman shout out that someone had been stabbed. He saw his friend Jackson slowly collapse onto the floor.

Witness Graeme McLean told the court that he saw someone jump forward from behind Lamar Jackson and strike him on the upper left part of his chest, before hearing him shout “I’ve been stabbed”. A blood stain the size of a snooker ball formed on his clothes before he dropped to the ground.

The alleged attack was not caught on CCTV and the defendant is believed to have left the venue “as quickly as he could”. Ambulance crews arrived at 12.22am but Lamar Jackson had already stopped breathing. He was pronounced dead at 12.44am.

John-Phillip handed himself in to police and in three subsequent interviews, only gave a prepared statement which said “I did not murder Lamar Jackson”. The trial continues.
