People had been waiting for a bus at Aldwych in the early hours of Sunday when tragedy struck. A man in his 20s has been arrested after a Range Rover Vogue careened off the road and struck down eight people queuing at a bus stop.
The vehicle ploughed into a bus shelter just near the Indian High Commission, leaving the driver badly injured and in need of medical attention.
The Metropolitan Police have since arrested the man on suspicion of dangerous driving and have made it clear that the incident is not being treated as terror-related.
