Gonikoppa, Nov. 30: The blood of one person can save three lives, and the public should come forward to donate blood voluntarily, said Dr. Karumbaiah, head of the Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences Blood Bank.

He spoke at a blood donation camp organized at the Umamaheshwari Temple auditorium in collaboration with Madhyamik Spandana, Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences Blood Bank, Ponnampet Taluk Working Journalists Association, Gonikoppa Grama Panchayat, and Gonikoppa Rotary.

At least three lives can be saved with the blood donated by one person. Therefore, people should realize the importance of blood donation and come forward to donate voluntarily.

The demand for blood is increasing in Kodagu district, and the Blood Bank is engaged in the work of meeting the demand by organizing camps. There is a necessity to set aside at least 3 camps for blood donation every week. He appealed that it should be made mandatory for associations and organizations to organize a camp at least once a year.

Madhyama Spandana founder Ajjamada Ramesh Kuttappa said that Madhyama Spandana is engaged in responding to the suffering. The number of people seeking medical treatment is increasing. The quality of responding has become more important in such times.

Kaveri Pommakkad Koota President Kottangada Viju Devaiah inaugurated the program and said that in the past, there was no awareness about blood donation. It is a matter of pride to organize a camp and donate blood at such a time. I am proud to have provided blood to many patients of Gonikoppa Community Health Center. I believe that donating blood for the first time is more important than all other services in life.

The number of blood donors has been increasing in recent years. He said that this is a good development and if we decide in our minds that it is the best donation, then it will be special for our lives.

Gonikoppa Gram Panchayat President Kullachanda Pramod Ganapathy said that I first donated blood at the age of 16. This has given me the awareness of blood donation in my life. In this regard, I have continued to donate blood continuously. This has increased self-satisfaction, he said.

State Committee Member of the Working Journalists' Association B. R. Savita Rai said that Madhyamik Spandana came into existence during the Covid era and has saved the lives of many people. The legacy of Madhyamik Spandana founder Ajjamada Ramesh Kuttappa has brought light to the suffering. He said that the quality of responsiveness is increasing.
