Doctor couple yearns for missing dog

Kanive, Jul. 23: A doctor couple who were treating a stray dog that was in pain after being hit by a vehicle on the Nagadevate Temple Road on Kushalnagar Market Road have been searching everywhere for the missing dog, leaving behind food and water.

This doctor couple, who have bought a large plot of land for stray dogs, built a fence around it and take care of the stray dogs inside it, feel great affection for any stray dog they see.

Therefore, the doctor couple, who were moved to tears after seeing the pitiful condition of a dog that was stuck under the wheels of a vehicle near a shop on the Nagadevate Temple Road in Kushalnagar, operated on the dog and fitted a green collar around its neck.

The doctor, who had given the dog's owner the responsibility of its care, is said to have given it daily injections, which is why the dog has recovered somewhat.

However, when the doctor went there the next day, he found the dog missing and was shocked when the doctor couple was informed that some unknown person had brought a vehicle and taken away the dog.

When they immediately went to the Kushalnagar Municipality and got information from the municipality that the dogs had been caught, the municipality replied that they had not caught them.

Later, when they asked for information about the people who caught them, the municipality officials said that they did not know.

Later, they went to several places on the outskirts of Kushalnagar, but could not find any trace of the dog.

Later, a person who regularly comes to them for treatment gave them the vehicle number and information about the people who had taken the dog away. The doctor couple, who decided not to drink water until they found the dog they had taken care of and had undergone surgery to restore its leg, searched everywhere, including most of the villages in the neighboring Piriyapatna taluk, Budithittu, and Anechaukur forest border villages, but could not find any trace of the dog.

Later, they found a person in the vehicle and pleaded, "I will give you any money you want. Tell me where the dog I was treating is. Show me where my father left it."

Finally, the man, unable to bear the pain of the doctor, went to Budithittu, but did not find any trace of the dog there.

Now, the doctor couple is in the same predicament. They have also requested that if the people who took the dog give the exact information about where they left it, they will also give a suitable reward if their beloved disabled dog is not found there.

In the last two years, this doctor couple has spent Rs. 8 thousand each on a stray dog and taken it to Mysore and performed sterilization surgery on more than 25 dogs.

After the surgery, they were admitted to the hospital for three days and then brought to Kushalnagar and released them. Thus, this doctor couple has indirectly helped the municipality by reducing the number of more than 250 dogs that these 25 stray dogs could have given birth to.

It is a common thing for the public to complain to the municipality about the menace of stray dogs. However, the authorities should inform the public about the grants received by the municipality or panchayats from the government for the management of stray dogs, including rabies vaccination and sterilization.

In this regard, the Kushalnagar municipality needs to be careful about stray dogs in the future. If they say that they are not aware of any other illegal activities taking place within the municipality, then the question for the public is whether they will give a similar answer even if there are other illegal activities taking place within the municipality. This doctor couple, who owns a prestigious clinic where hundreds of patients come from faraway places to get treatment by taking advance appointments every day, close their clinic and go around searching for the dog out of great concern and affection for this dog. Their attachment to that dog enchants everyone.

When "Shakti" called this doctor for information about this, he became emotional while telling the story of the dog.
