Diablo 4's Metacritic score plummets to 1.9 after a failed patch.
Following the latest Diablo 4 patch, many gamers are left feeling frustrated and confused. The 1.1.0 patch made a lot of changes, but the biggest issue seems to be the nerfs across popular character builds and changes to the reward system.

Players weren't happy to find their once strong characters had become weaker, leading to a huge drop in Diablo 4's user score on Metacritic across all platforms. To address the poor reception, the team at Blizzard Entertainment held a livestream over the weekend.

Game director Joe Shely, associate game director Joseph Piepiora, and associate director of community Adam Fletcher appeared in the livestream and were candid about the patch. Fletcher admitted that they knew it was bad, and that it wasn't fun. He also stated that they ‘don’t plan on doing a patch like this ever again.’

The 1.1.1 patch will hopefully restore some of the damage inflicted by the previous patch. There is also a hotfix that has made changes to the Nightmare dungeons, making them a bit easier to clear. In addition, there are plans to introduce new content that will offer more of a challenge for those looking for it.

To try and help ensure the same mistakes are not made again, Blizzard will begin publishing patch notes in advance. They warned that big balance shifts like the ones the 1.1.0 patch introduced are inevitable, but certain overpowered builds will be left untouched until there are ‘compelling alternatives.’

Despite the reassurances from the team at Blizzard, it appears the promises have done little to win over some players. Judging by the YouTube upload's like/dislike ratio, the video has 9,900 dislikes compared to 6,100 likes.
