Delhi Police wants Telangana CM Reddy to assist in investigation of doctored video involving Amit Shah, according to sources.
The Delhi Police has requested Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to cooperate with their investigation on May 1st regarding the doctored video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah that has been circulating on social media. Official sources revealed this information on Monday. The police have issued notices to five members of the Telangana Congress, including Reddy, who had shared the video on X.

Reddy has been asked to bring the mobile phone that was allegedly used to post the fake video on X. The Special Cell of the Delhi Police filed an FIR after the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre, which is under the Ministry of Home Affairs, filed a complaint about the doctored video. In the video, Shah's statements about abolishing quota for Muslims in Telangana were manipulated to make it seem like he was advocating for the removal of all reservations.

Sources from the Special Cell mentioned that arrests are likely to occur across the country. Earlier, Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP's IT department, accused the Telangana Congress unit of spreading a fake video of Shah that was completely fabricated and could incite violence. The BJP also filed a police complaint.

The Delhi Police filed the FIR under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. Meanwhile, the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations unit of the Special Cell has reached out to social media platforms to identify the source of the video and those who shared it.

"We have formed multiple teams to conduct a thorough investigation and apprehend the main culprits. We have contacted X, formerly known as Twitter, and other social media platforms to trace the origin of the video and those responsible for its widespread circulation," said another source.

According to the complaint filed by Sinku Sharan Singh of I4C, some doctored videos are being shared on social media with the intention of causing discord among communities, which could disrupt public peace and order. The video appears to be manipulated and contains false information, which could lead to disharmony among communities and disturb public tranquility. The complainant has requested necessary legal action to be taken in accordance with the law.
