NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime, has had a string of medical issues recently, culminating in surgery on his feet and leg on July 20. His long-time girlfriend, Tracey Edmonds, posted to Instagram on July 21, expressing gratitude for the successful surgery, as well as expressing appreciation for the prayers of their well-wishers.
Unfortunately, due to the surgery, Coach Prime will not be attending the Pac-12 Media Day in Las Vegas on July 21. This procedure was a follow-up to the initial surgery on June 23, during which he had blood clots removed from his left thigh and below his left knee. Sanders has been dealing with issues in his foot and leg since 2021, and in 2022 he had his big toe and the toe next to it amputated.
As of July 21, Sanders is recuperating at UC Health at the University of Colorado Anschutz. There is no current information on when he may be released. In his absence, his defensive coordinator, Charles Kelly, will be in attendance at media day.
