Addressing a press conference here, he said Rs 363.58 crore from NABARD and Apex Bank's own capital has been taken as DCC Bank loan and zero-interest agricultural loans have been disbursed to farmers. Bond Ganapathy said that the allegations against the bank regarding the loan facility are far from the truth. During the year 2024-25, Rs. 1066.47 crore NCL has been sanctioned to 39,390 farmers through KDCC Bank, out of which Rs. 830.32 crore short term crop loan has been disbursed to 36,756 farmers at zero interest rate through Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies in the district.
For the year 2024-25, NABARD has released only Rs. 105.39 crore as refinance. NABARD was earlier providing short-term agricultural loans to cooperative societies. The interest rate is 60 per cent per annum. compared to the previous year's total. Only 12.69 per cent of the amount has been recovered. The Kodagu District Cooperative Central Bank is not responsible for the problems faced by the farmers at present. The government should take the initiative to resolve the joint account, pouti account, various problems faced by local farmers. Bond Ganapathy said that a special officer should be appointed to solve these problems being seen in Kodagu.
Along with obtaining the Fruit ID, the government had provided the 'Kaveri-2' technology for registration of all documents. However, the coffee crop is not recorded in this technique due to commercial reasons.
Stating that the bank has made necessary efforts with the government to resolve these issues, he said the central government has created a separate Ministry of Cooperation. The ministry is also planning to implement 'Uniform Technology' in various states of the country, including credit facilities being provided in cooperative societies. He informed that a pilot project involving Karnataka and two other states has already been formulated and the deadline for its implementation is 31st December, 2025.
Once this single form of technology is implemented, the distribution of credit facility, audit of cooperative societies will all be done online. In such a situation, it will not only be mandatory to have the fruit system to avail the loan facility, but the work will be done only if the farmers provide the necessary documents, including Single RTC, Aadhaar, and install it in the system. However, Bond Ganapathy said that there are no problems in disbursing the loan facility to the farmers of the district in this line.
