Dasara Festivities Conclude as Elephant Squad Returns to Dubare

Kushalnagar, Oct 22: The elephant squad, led by the tusker 'Captain' Prashanth—which played a key role in the success of the grand 'Jumbo Savari' (procession) in Mysuru—has returned to the Dubare Elephant Camp following the conclusion of the Dasara festivities.

The elephants that returned from Mysuru to the Dubare camp include Prashanth (from the Dubare camp), who garnered attention by carrying the *Ambari* (golden howdah) at the Mysuru Dasara for the first time; Dhananjaya, who led the Srirangapatna Dasara procession; and Lakshmana (from the Harangi camp), who led the Tumakuru Dasara procession. Other elephants in the group—Gopi, Srirama, Sugreeva, and Kaveri—have also returned.

The team of elephants, accompanied by their *mahouts* (keepers), *kavadis* (assistants), and their family members, had departed from the Dubare camp for Mysuru on August 26. They spent approximately two months participating in Dasara preparations and the Jumbo Savari procession.

Upon completing their Dasara duties, the elephants were transported by truck to the Dubare camp via the Periyapatna-Maldare route. Forest Department officials and staff extended a warm welcome to the elephant squad upon their arrival at the camp.
