Ryan confessed that he purposely included a lot of salsa dancing in the series, explaining that he believes a surprise dance is like "chef's kiss". He added, "There's some dances in places where you just don't see them coming." However, when it comes to appearing on Strictly, both Danny and Ryan quickly shut down the idea. "Hell no!" they both chimed in.
Danny then elaborated on his reasoning, admitting that he's too lazy and doesn't want to be the "joke" contestant on the show. "That will be what it'll become, me trying to suck my belly in, smothered in sequins," he joked. "I don't mind the spray tan thing, I like all that, but that live telly thing - and also being judged! I'm not good at being judged."
Although, he did backtrack a bit and shared the one thing that could potentially change his mind - "If the money was right...I'd take it all back and yes, I would do it in a heartbeat!"
Perhaps we'll see Danny on Strictly in 2024? It could be the perfect opportunity for him to add another skill to his repertoire, especially after tackling comedy for the first time in Mr Bigstuff.
Ryan revealed that Danny hadn't really done much comedy before, but he's taken to it like a "very funny duck to water". Danny agreed, saying, "Comedy is such a different discipline [to serial drama]. It's very lighthearted. It's a joy, actually." He also mentioned the difference in pace between filming a series like EastEnders and a comedy show like Mr Bigstuff.
Danny also shared his thoughts on the unpredictability of the acting industry and how it's not guaranteed that you'll always have a role. "It's a tricky one, our industry. No one's guaranteed anything. You never quite know where it's going to take you," he said. "And of course, you can get institutionalized in these shows. You're not around anymore, you're not about. So, to be out and free to choose what I want to do again, you want something cool and something that you think you can shine in, and this landed on my lap and I was like, 'Yes!'"
So, will Danny ever end up accepting an offer to compete on Strictly? Well, it seems like they now have the secret formula to make him say yes!
