Current situation people of Assam due to Flood

The flood has been ravaging Assam since the second week of July and is the worst in the last decade. It has caused the death of more than 100 people and damage to property worth crores of rupees. The flood caused by incessant rains has inundated almost half of the state’s districts and affected nearly 70 lakh people.

 

The situation is so bad that there are reports that some people are dying due to a lack of food, water, and medicines in some areas. The number of displaced people is increasing day by day and there is no sign of relief from this natural disaster. The situation in the state of Assam is getting worse day by day. The state is facing floods that have submerged more than half the region. This has resulted in a lot of people being displaced from their homes and has also caused a shortage of food and water.

 

 

The worst-hit is the people living in the district of Dhemaji, where more than 2 lakh people have been displaced and are living in relief camps. The situation is not any better for other districts like Lakhimpur, Golaghat, Jorhat, or Tinsukia. In the past few weeks, the state of Assam has been battered by floods. The government had to close schools and colleges and people were evacuated to safer places. The situation is so bad that there is a shortage of food, water, and shelter in many parts of the state. People are living in makeshift camps on high ground or in schools that have been turned into relief camps.
