Craig Revel Horwood is already looking ahead to the 2024 series of Strictly Come Dancing, and he has the perfect celebrity in mind. Appearing on Lorraine, the 58-year-old judge revealed he's been dreaming of the monarchy taking part, but also suggested that entertainment mogul Simon Cowell should put on his dancing shoes and take part.
"We always dream of royalty, but I would love to see Simon Cowell on it," Craig said. "I think he'd suit the costumes, his wit would be brilliant, and his dry sense of humour. I would love it. It'd be so good. A little bit of a taste of his own medicine, I suppose."
Craig believes it's time for the 64-year-old who has spent years judging others on The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent to get a bit of payback. He also used his appearance on the ITV Daytime show to quash rumors that he would be leaving Strictly anytime soon.
"I'm not leaving, by the way. I am not leaving," he stated.
Craig also spoke of his hopes for the contestants, believing that his sometimes harsh criticism can help them become better dancers.
"I think people deserve the truth at some stage in their lives and that is why I'm there, to be completely honest and straight down the line," he said. "Hopefully, in order for them to become better dancers. That is my only intention. It's not to slag people off for no reason at all. It's not about that."
Though Craig has been on Strictly since its inception in 2004 and is the show's longest-serving judge, last month he told Kate Lawler on Lorraine that he may change his role.
"I might hang up my dancing shoes just on the stage and go towards direction but that's about it," he explained.
