On Friday, the Congress unit in Odisha took to the streets of Bhubaneswar to voice their concerns over the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 examination. Demanding accountability, they called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who they believe has failed to prevent the leak of the question paper.
Led by state president Sarat Pattanayak, the Congress members marched from Congress Bhawan to Master Canteen Square, where they raised slogans against the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre. In a show of solidarity, the leaders and workers then staged a demonstration at the square.
Expressing his disappointment, Pattanayak stated, "The BJP-led central government is playing with the future of lakhs of students. It has been brought to our attention that the question paper was illegally sold for a hefty sum ranging from Rs 32 lakh to Rs 40 lakh."
Former OPCC president Prasad Harichandan also shared his concerns, saying, "This is not the first time that question paper leaks have occurred under the NDA rule. It has happened a total of 70 times. The Congress stands with the students of our country and we will continue to intensify our protest in the days to come."
