Comparing GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, Super Mario RPG 2, and PSVR2's successes and disappointments.
Rockstar's Best Game
The Monday letters page certainly stirred up some interesting discussions. One reader hopes that the upcoming Starfield game takes some inspiration from FTL, while another reader is worried that Halo is a dead franchise. It certainly looks like the gaming industry is a constantly-evolving one!

If the rumours of a Red Dead Redemption 1 remaster are true, I'm hoping Rockstar has learned from their mistakes with The Trilogy. It's hard to say if they will pull off a successful remaster, but at least we still have the original version of the game.

It's no secret that Red Dead Redemption 2 is my favourite game of all time! I can confidently say that it's even better than GTA 5. The characters and story are much better, the mission design and action are top-notch, and the graphics are much more impressive – although that could be attributed to its age.

The best news about the remaster is that it may mean that Rockstar is starting to think about a third game. After GTA 6, of course. Hopefully work has already begun in the background.

It's Dead, Phil
This weekend's topic was a good one. I'm a big fan of the Halo franchise and I have all the related books, art books, soundtrack, and films. It's a shame that 343 have pretty much killed the franchise with Halo 4, 5, and Infinite. I hope the series can make a comeback because I still enjoy playing the original games.

Like Buses
I don't think Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom was the only great game this year. WWE 2K23 on PlayStation 5 and Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective are both great games in my opinion. I'm sure Resident Evil 4 will be a contender for my game of the year when it's released. Super Mario Bros. Wonder and the two Poirot games also look promising.

No Comparison
Starfield and Spider-Man 2 are two completely different games, so it's hard to compare them. Starfield will be available on Game Pass, while Spider-Man 2 is buy-only. It's impossible to tell which game will make more money. Instead, we'll have to wait and see how the fans and critics respond.

Back to the Source
It's currently unclear why Nintendo is remaking Super Mario RPG. It could just be a quick and easy way to fill out the schedules. But it's also possible that Nintendo is looking to go back to the series' role-playing roots, as they have been struggling to recreate the success of The Thousand-Year Door. The Origami King is a great game, but it doesn't have much in common with the first two games.
It's clear that the Monday letters page is a source of great debates and discussions. The most recent topic was the discussion of the fate of the Halo franchise, with one reader hoping that Starfield takes some inspiration from FTL. Rumors of a Red Dead Redemption 1 remaster has caused a stir among the gaming community and Rockstar in particular. Fans are skeptical that Rockstar has learned from their mistakes from GTA: The Trilogy. CD Projekt has set a high standard for remasters, and so the expectations for Rockstar are set high. Fans of the series are not overly excited about the remaster, as it will likely just be a quick cash-in with no major changes. The original version is still completely playable, and so there really isn't much of a need for the remaster.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is my favorite game of all time, and in my opinion it is far superior to GTA 5. The story and characters in Red Dead are much better crafted, the mission design and action is better, and the graphics are much more impressive - although admittedly that’s more a question of age.

The best news about the remaster is that if it is being done to raise the series’ profile again, then hopefully that means Rockstar has started thinking about a third game. While it is unlikely that we will see a Red Dead 3 until after GTA 6, it is possible that work has begun on it in the background.

The weekend topic of favorite 2023 releases has also been a great discussion. While Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom was a popular choice, I personally have only played two games from this year - WWE 2K23 and Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective. Both of them are great in their own right, and I am sure Resident Evil 4, which I will be receiving for my birthday, will be a contender for my game of the year.

Finally, the comparison between Starfield and Spider-Man 2 was brought up. While it is hard to compare the two in terms of financial success, it is likely that Starfield will only be available via Game Pass while Spider-Man 2 will be a buy-only game. It is impossible to predict which one will be more popular, and so it will have to be judged on critical and fan response.

Finally, Nintendo's decision to remake Super Mario RPG has caused some speculation. It has been suggested that Nintendo is trying to bring back the role-playing elements of the series, as the recent games have stripped them out. Whether or not this is the case remains to be seen.
