CM of Bhopal enrolls two farmers and inaugurates Krishak Mitra Yojana to help farmers in the state.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the Mukyamantri Krishak Mitra Yojana on Wednesday. At a programme organised at the Kushabhau Thakre Convention Centre, he registered the names of two farmers - Harda district's Namita and Sehore resident Premnarayan Panwar - during the inaugural ceremony.

Under the scheme, 10,000 permanent agriculture pump connections will be provided to farmers, with 50 % of the expenditure borne by the state government and the electricity distribution company, and the remaining 50 % to be paid by the farmers for infrastructure development.

The Chief Minister praised the hard work of farmers that has helped the state become number one in the agriculture sector. He noted that Sharbati wheat and Ginnaur rice now have an international identity, and that cereal production has increased from 159 lakh metric tons in 2002-03 to 619 lakh metric tons.

Recently, Madhya Pradesh was heading towards a drought-like situation as the rains had receded and the crops were withering. But the chief minister prayed before Lord Mahakal and the monsoon revived, filling the dams to the brim. He reassured the people that there was no need for worry as electricity supply was being done as per the demand.

At the event, energy minister Pradhyuman Singh Tomar said the Mukyamantri Krishak Mitra Yojana will prove a milestone for farmers in the state.

Meanwhile, the halt in downpour has caused temperatures in Bhopal and Indore to shoot up. However, according to weather reports, heavy rain is expected to return around the weekend.
