Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan came down hard on the Congress party during a meeting at Sethani Ghat in Narmadapuram on Wednesday.
He slammed Digvijaya Singh's statement that Kanya Pujan was a ‘Nautanki’ and said that worshipping girls is part of Indian culture and he does it to honour women. He was disappointed that the Congress thought it was something to be mocked.
Chouhan proudly shared the progress his government has made in empowering women, citing 50% reservation to women in urban bodies and the Ladli Behna Yojna, which he said has changed the lives of 1.32 crore women. He then contrasted this to the Congress' lack of progress during their 1.5 year rule, accusing them of stopping schemes like Sambhal Yojna, which gave laptops and bicycles to students.
The Chief Minister then warned of what would happen if the Congress returned to power. He said they would close all the welfare schemes, and asked Kamal Nath for the reason he became the Chief Minister.
Chouhan then outlined his plans for the future. He promised that if BJP forms the next government, each member of a family will get a job, and called on the people of Narmadapuram to vote for the BJP candidate Sitasaran Sharma to ensure this development.
Before addressing the meeting, Chouhan held a roadshow to garner support for the BJP. He garlanded the statues of BR Ambedkar outside the BJP office and Deendayal Upadhyay. The rally was welcomed at different places in the city, and some independent councillors even took the BJP membership on the occasion.
