Dear Readers,
I want to remind you all to submit your letters to the editor through the designated form. We always appreciate your contributions and look forward to reading more Letters to the Editor.
Today, I want to bring attention to the issue of homelessness in the San Francisco Bay Area. It's a problem that needs to be addressed urgently. The relocation and gentrification of the homeless population is not a solution, it's like putting a Band-Aid on a bullet wound. Caltrans has spent a staggering amount of money, over $29 million, between 2012 and 2017 to clean up homeless camps. And in 2023, they closed 2,682 encampments. But unfortunately, these camps often reopen elsewhere or in the same spot, making it a waste of precious resources and time.
It's clear that the government's approach to solving this issue is not effective. Instead of just moving the homeless around, I urge you all to help those in need by connecting them to programs that can help them get back on their feet. We need to work together to find a long-term solution, rather than just pushing the problem onto someone else. Let's not forget that this is a humanitarian issue that requires our attention and action.
Moving on to another topic, I want to address the attacks on ranked-choice voting. It's no surprise that those who lost due to this democratic and cost-saving process will launch complaints. But instead of accepting the decision of the majority of voters, they choose to attack the system. Let's not give in to these grievances and continue to support a system that is working exactly how it's intended to. With ranked-choice voting, we can now move forward without the expense and manipulation of expensive run-offs.
Now, let's shift our focus to the Middle East. As we all know, the recent election saw the defeat of Kamala Harris, and some attribute this to President Biden's decision to not withdraw from the race earlier. This weak performance had a negative impact on the Democratic Party and its candidates. Some even suggest that the United States was not ready to elect a woman president. But there is another factor at play here, the failure of the Biden administration to address the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The administration's support for Israel and its supply of weapons has led to the deaths of over 43,000 Palestinians. It's time for the United Nations Security Council to intervene and bring an end to this war. This includes a cease-fire and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from occupied territories, as well as convening a peace conference to admit Palestine to the United Nations and finalize peace treaties. Only then can we ensure a lasting peace in the region.
Lastly, I want to draw your attention to the impact of AI on our environment. While it may seem like a convenient and harmless tool, the environmental effects of AI are often overlooked. A simple search through artificial intelligence chatbots consumes 25 times more electricity than a Google search. And with its increasing usage, AI is predicted to become the main energy consumer in several countries. Not to mention, the training and cooling of AI models require a significant amount of fresh water, adding to the global freshwater scarcity. We need to start regulating the environmental impact of AI and protect our communities from its harmful effects.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope we can all come together to address these important issues.
Sincerely,
Francisco Lupian III

Dear Editor,
I wanted to take a moment to discuss the recent election and the use of ranked-choice voting. As expected, those who did not win due to this process are now attacking it instead of accepting the decision of the majority of voters. But let's not give in to these complaints. Ranked-choice voting is a highly democratic and cost-saving process that has been working exactly as it's intended to. We should continue to support and use this system.
Moving on, I want to bring attention to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The defeat of Kamala Harris in the election has been attributed to President Biden's decision to not withdraw from the race earlier. This, along with the administration's failure to address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, has had a negative impact on the Democratic Party's reputation. It's time for the United Nations Security Council to intervene and bring an end to this war. This includes a cease-fire, the withdrawal of Israeli troops, and convening a peace conference to finalize peace treaties. We must work towards a lasting peace in the region.
I also want to address the issue of homelessness in the San Francisco Bay Area. Simply relocating and gentrifying the homeless population is not a solution. It's like putting a Band-Aid on a bullet wound. The amount of money and resources spent on cleaning up homeless camps is a waste. We must find a long-term solution and help those in need get back on their feet. Let's come together and address this humanitarian issue.
Lastly, I want to draw attention to the environmental impact of AI. While it may seem like a harmless tool, its usage is causing significant harm to our environment. We need to start regulating its impact and protecting our communities from its negative effects.
Thank you for considering my thoughts and I hope we can all work towards creating a better future.

Dear Editor,
As we move past the election, I want to urge everyone to focus on one of the most pressing issues in our society - the environment. While AI may seem like a convenient and harmless tool, its usage is causing significant harm to our planet. It's time for us to start regulating its impact and protecting our communities from its negative effects.
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East is also a cause for concern. The defeat of Kamala Harris in the election has been attributed to President Biden's decision to not withdraw from the race earlier. This, along with the administration's failure to address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, has had a negative impact on the Democratic Party's reputation. We must work towards a lasting peace in the region.

Thank you for considering my thoughts.
