Businessmen from the city of Bhopal have voiced their concerns about the state of their businesses due to inadequate parking spaces and encroachments. He highlighted that traders and shopkeepers from small towns and villages around Bhopal come to the city every day to buy goods, and yet the problems of the Old City are not being addressed.
Madhur Agarwal, a jeweller from Chowk Bazar, pointed out that while Bhopal will soon have a Metro Train, the city is still far from becoming a Metro City. He suggested that electric wiring should be made underground in order to make the city look neater and reduce incidents of fire and electrocution.
Rajendra Gupta from Gokul Mishthan Bhandar in Bittan Market spoke about the need for a high-tech Haat. He said that the Haat area should be cleaned daily and shops selling fish and chicken and two-wheeler repairers should be shifted elsewhere in order to reduce offensive smell and air pollution.
Purushottam Wadhwani, a mobile accessories seller from New Market, noted that parking in the area is insufficient and the charges are too high. He also mentioned that there is a need for a better public toilet in the area.
Finally, Rambabu Sharma, the president of the Vijay Market Traders Association in Berkheda, talked about the need for the candidate being elected to be from the area, as well as bettering basic infrastructure and providing roti-kapda-makan, education and medical facilities, and jobs for educated youth. He also suggested that the tax policy should be improved and made mandatory for all transactions to be made through bank accounts.
