CID to investigate sexual abuse allegations against JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna.
In Bengaluru, on Sunday, the Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara announced that the case of alleged sexual abuse against JD MLC Suraj Revanna has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. Suraj Revanna, the brother of former MP Prajwal Revanna, was arrested in Hassan earlier in the day on charges of "unnatural offences" against a male party worker.

According to police sources, the allegations against Suraj Revanna involve multiple women, similar to the allegations against his brother Prajwal Revanna. Suraj has been arrested and charged with various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including "unnatural offences." The case, which was initially registered at the Holenarasipura Rural Police Station in Hassan, has now been transferred to the CID for thorough investigation. A message from the office of the Director General and Inspector General of Police directed the CID to take over the case file and complete the investigation promptly. The Superintendent of Police in Hassan has been instructed to personally hand over the case file to the CID's Investigation Officer.

The Director General of Police, CID, Bengaluru has been instructed to carry out further investigation and submit a detailed report upon completion. Speaking to reporters, Home Minister Parameshwara confirmed that an FIR has been filed against Suraj Revanna and he has been taken into custody for questioning. He also stated that this case, like others involving the Revanna family, will be handled by the CID. When asked about Suraj's allegation of a political conspiracy against his family, the Home Minister stated that appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the law.

The 27-year-old male party worker who filed the complaint against Suraj Revanna alleged that he was sexually abused at Suraj's farmhouse on June 16. Based on the complaint, the police have charged Suraj under IPC Sections 377, 342, and 506. Suraj, however, has denied all allegations and has accused the complainant of attempting to extort Rs 5 crore from him. In response to Suraj's allegation, police have registered a case of extortion against the complainant on a complaint filed by Suraj's close aide. It has been alleged that the complainant initially demanded Rs 5 crore from Suraj, but later reduced the amount to Rs 2 crore.

Meanwhile, Suraj's brother and former MP Prajwal Revanna is also facing charges of sexual assault and is currently in police custody. He was arrested upon his return from Germany last month. Their parents, H D Revanna and Bhavani, have been accused of kidnapping and keeping one of Prajwal's alleged victims in custody. They are currently out on bail.
