Noir Atelier is a Black-owned luxury brand based in Chicago, founded by two locals Shawn Gibbs and Frankie Favre. Launching in September 2023, the pair set out to provide luxury items at an affordable price point, starting with a python print leather vegan leather card holder priced at $129.
Before bringing their design to market, the duo researched designs from some of the most iconic luxury brands in the world, including Goyard, Yves Saint Laurent and Burberry. Gibbs told Block Club Chicago that their designs were meant to be multigenerational and unisex, allowing everyone to experience luxury regardless of their gender, age, or budget.
Fabre indicated that Goyard was the brand that stood out to him most, praising their colorway and wanting to provide customers with the same level of accessorizing for their everyday lives.
Noir Atelier is now available for orders on the NTWRK marketplace, a virtual shopping experience similar to the one operated by QVC. This has allowed them to "rub elbows" with some of the "dopest designers and artists around", as Fabre put it.
The pair plan to expand their offerings and customer base over the coming year, including a grand opening party in Chicago and even opening a store in the city's West Loop. Additionally, they have dreams of one day establishing a store in the city that inspired their name, Paris.
However, in order to achieve these goals they are being judicious with their finances, as Fabre told Block Club Chicago- “We got some dope s— happening, and that requires a lot of money. And so right now we’re being very smart financially with a lot of our decisions with the future in mind … so that way we can give people an experience.”
Noir Atelier is on the rise, and we can't wait to see what they have in store for us in the near future. We wish the pair all the best in their journey to bring luxury goods to everyone, regardless of budget.
