Carmelo Anthony has been enjoying a well-deserved retirement since leaving the NBA this year. The New York native is opening up his luxurious "modern vintage" mansion in Westchester, NY to the public.
Since joining the league as a small forward for the New York Knicks in 2012, the 10-time NBA All-Star and 3-time Olympic gold medalist had lived in a 4,500-square-foot condo in Chelsea, Manhattan. Last year, he decided to move to a more spacious 13,000-square-foot mansion in Westchester County.
Anthony told Architectural Digest, “I love land, I love space. Once you start getting out [of the city] and travelling and going to these other places, you realize that [a 25 to 30-minute drive] is not that far from the city.”
The lavish residence matches his eclectic style and taste, serving as a museum-inspired tribute to creativity and self-expression. Anthony and interior designer Cassandre Bonhomme worked together to develop a "modern vintage" style for the home, incorporating Anthony's personal collection of artwork, furniture and figurines.
Among the stand-out pieces in the house is a large mural of Muhammad Ali done in polished wood by the artist Cryptik, which was personally commissioned for Anthony. There are also artworks by Nathaniel Mary Quinn, Kehinde Wiley, and Delphine Diallo, as well as a trio of large marlins painted red, black, and white by Bonhomme.
The foyer has a double-arched staircase, and the level parlor is where Anthony likes to entertain. He said, “I sit there. I throw my record player on. I can chill. I can see outside…. You get to listen to music, you get to vibe to the art, you get to read the books…. It’s just a vibe.”
Anthony also has a personal bedroom for his massive shoe collection and his son Kiyan has a bedroom decked out with vintage furniture and art. The father and son are now enjoying the peace and tranquility of the 'burbs and the art deco-style of their new home.
