Capital celebrates Rath Yatra with joy and enthusiasm.
The streets of Bhubaneswar were filled with an electric energy on Sunday as the much-awaited Rath Yatra festival arrived. Chariots adorned with grand decorations were rolled out at various locations in the capital city, marking the beginning of the joyous occasion. Devotees from all around gathered at prominent places to participate in the festivities, their voices resonating with chants and hymns that filled the air. Even the afternoon rain couldn't dampen their spirits as they sought blessings from the deities.

The celebrations were not limited to one or two places, but spread out across more than 50 locations in the city. From Patiagarh to Laxmisagar, from Utkal University to the Regional College of Management, the festive spirit could be felt everywhere. At the Shrivani Kshetra of KISS, a large number of devotees came together to take part in religious ceremonies such as Mangala Arati, Mailama, Tadapalagi, Rosha Homa, Abakasha, and Surya Puja. With great fervor, they then pulled the three chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra to the newly-built Gundicha Temple near KIIT-Sikharchandi Road. It was a sight to behold as women devotees came forward to pull the chariot of Devi Subhadra.

All the rituals were performed according to the traditions of the Puri Srimandir, with special attention given to the construction of the three magnificent chariots. Skilled artisans, including 'bindhani', 'maharana', and 'chitrakara', were engaged by the temple trust to create these masterpieces. The Gajapati Maharaja of Puri, Dibyasingha Deba, provided his guidance and consultancy for all the activities, from the chariot construction to the 'niti' and 'puja'. As the nine-day festival continued, a 'Bhajan Samaroh' was held every evening near the Gundicha Temple, adding even more joy and festivities to the celebrations.

The Rath Yatra was also celebrated at the Utkal University, with the Vice Chancellor Sabita Acharya performing the ritual of sweeping the chariots on the university premises. Another major attraction in the city was the International Society for Krishna Consciousness temple at Nayapalli. The temple was abuzz with excitement as the three chariots of the deities were pulled from the temple front to ISKCON's Mausima temple at Unit VIII. It was a grand celebration, with devotees coming together to witness and be a part of this auspicious event.

The Rath Yatra is not just a festival, but a symbol of unity and devotion. It brings people from different walks of life together in celebration and harmony. As the festivities continued in Bhubaneswar, the city was filled with joy and love, spreading the message of peace and brotherhood.
