Recently, there was a burglary at Gary Barlow's home that left him and his family in shock. The Take That star had just finished performing on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, when he returned home to discover that his £6,000,000 mansion had been broken into.
Gary was joined on stage by his bandmates, Mark Owen and Howard Donald, as they sang their hit song "Shine" on the popular ITV show. Little did they know, while they were entertaining the audience, burglars were taking advantage of their absence and sneaking into the property.
The incident happened in early April, when Gary was away for the weekend. The burglars took advantage of the darkness and forced their way through the front gate of the property, located in a village in the South of England. Gary himself was not aware of the burglary until the following day, when the police were notified.
As of now, no arrests have been made and it is still unclear what was stolen from the house. It is also unknown whether Gary's wife, Dawn, and their two children, Daniel and Emily, were at home during the break-in.
After the incident, crime scene investigators were seen taking photos of Gary's Grade II-listed mansion, while neighbours reported seeing the front gate damaged. One resident shared, "When I drove past, I saw officers taking photos of the gates which had been damaged. They were left half open. A few days later, the gates had been fixed."
Another neighbour, who is 76 years old, mentioned that the police had asked him if he had seen anything suspicious, but he was not aware of anything out of the ordinary. He also added, "I noticed the gates were flapping open. It's a rather secluded place. It's a warning to us all. There have been other burglaries we've heard about in the area within the last year or so. There are a few big houses and Mr Barlow's is one of them."
Local residents described Gary as a "lovely neighbour", and they were devastated to hear about what happened. Gary has lived in his property since 2007, when he purchased it for £2.3million. Currently, he is on tour with his Take That bandmates, Mark Owen and Howard Donald, and they have been travelling around the country performing for their fans.
The trio have added extra dates to their tour due to high demand, and they will continue to perform until June. A representative for Gary declined to comment further on the burglary.
