Bride's mum would have been seen before she tragically crashed near the wedding venue.

Had he been paying attention, she would've been obvious to Mr Bannister when he attempted the crossing.

Bride's mum would have been seen before she tragically crashed near the wedding venue.
Nicholas Bannister is on trial accused of causing death by driving without due care and attention, after he hit Judith Wadsworth with his car. Judith was crossing an access road outside the Coniston Hotel and Spa, near Skipton, North Yorkshire, on February 7, 2020. She was there to attend her daughter's wedding the next day.

At the Bradford crown court, ergonomics expert Dr David Usher said that Judith would have been highly visible to Bannister had he been looking at her. He also explained that the influence of the A-pillar of Bannister's Range Rover could not have obscured his view of Judith and that it is a natural part of driving for a motorist to move their head to compensate for any such problem.

Dr Usher added that Bannister's familiarity with the location of the crossing was another factor increasing the conspicuity of Mrs Wadsworth. Lisa Judge, defending, asked if it was possible that Mrs Wadsworth was distracted as she walked between the car park and the hotel, making the final preparations for her daughter's wedding. Dr Usher said that whilst it was possible, there was no evidence to suggest that she was.

The trial is ongoing.
