Boy, 8, dies after falling off car while car surfing behind his sister, a teen driver.
Enashia Futrell, an 18-year-old from Newport News, Virginia, made headlines recently when she was arrested and charged in the death of her eight-year-old brother. According to court documents, she admitted to speeding and driving while distracted when her brother tragically fell off the roof of the SUV she was driving.

Surveillance footage from an apartment complex where Futrell was driving showed two children hanging out of the windows without being fastened down with seatbelts. One of the kids was in the front passenger seat and the other was in the back seat.

The boy in the back climbed out and to the roof of the vehicle as Futrell drove over the 10 mph speed limit at the complex parking lot in Hampton, Virginia, the documents state. CCTV showed the boy 'car surfing' on the SUV for about 1,000 feet and then falling to the ground.

When police arrived at the scene in the 200 block of Golden Gate Drive, they found the boy unresponsive. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries and sadly pronounced dead two days later. Futrell was subsequently arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment. Her bond was set at $10,000 and she is prohibited from driving a vehicle.

Futrell's mother told police that the teen often helped take care of the children after school when she could not do so herself. This heartbreaking incident is a reminder of the tragedy that ensued when a 16-year-old boy twerking on top of a car fell, was run over and died in Atlanta nearly eight years ago.
