Bhagwat suggests having a three-child limit to address declining population.
During a recent event called "100 Varsh ki Sangh Yatra," Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed the audience and shared his thoughts on the importance of maintaining a sustainable fertility rate in India. He urged every Indian couple to have three children, stating that this is crucial for preventing community extinction and ensuring national stability.

Bhagwat's remarks came at a time when there is growing concern over demographic changes and population control in the country. He emphasized that this issue is vital for India's future and highlighted expert opinions that suggest communities with a fertility rate below three eventually disappear.

"Experts say that communities with a birth rate of less than three slowly go extinct. Therefore, it is essential to maintain a birth rate of over three, as this is the case in all countries," Bhagwat said.

He also pointed out that India's replacement-level birth rate is 2.1 children per woman, but in practical terms, it translates to three children due to the impossibility of fractional births.

"Our country's population recommends a birth rate of 2.1, which is acceptable as an average. However, you cannot have 0.1 of a child. In mathematics, 2.1 becomes 2, but when it comes to births, after two, it has to be three," Bhagwat explained.

Drawing from medical advice, the RSS leader highlighted the benefits of marrying at the appropriate age and having three children, both for the parents and their offspring.

"I have been told by doctors that marrying at the right age and having three children ensures the health and well-being of both the parents and the children. Additionally, children who grow up with three siblings learn how to manage their egos, and it also leads to a harmonious family life in the future," he added.

Bhagwat stressed that this approach promotes the development of well-adjusted individuals and stronger family units. He called on all Indian couples to aim for three children for the sake of the nation's future, while also cautioning against excessive growth.

"Population can be a boon, but it can also be a burden. At the end of the day, it is essential to feed everyone. This is why we have a population policy. To ensure that the population remains controlled and enough at the same time, every family should have three children, but not too many more than that. This is for the better upbringing of the children, and it is something that everyone should accept," Bhagwat emphasized.

The RSS chief also noted a decline in birth rates across all communities, with Hindus experiencing a more significant decrease due to historically lower rates.

"The birth rate is decreasing for all communities, but it is more noticeable among Hindus because their rates have always been low. In other communities, it was higher, but now it is also decreasing. This is nature's way - when resources decrease, and populations rise, this tends to happen," he said.

Bhagwat called on society to prepare the younger generation for this norm and promote it as a balanced response to resource constraints and demographic shifts. He urged everyone to work together towards maintaining a sustainable fertility rate in India for the sake of the nation's future.
