Becky Lynch paid an emotional tribute to Bray Wyatt during her Falls Count Anywhere match on Monday Night Raw. Everyone was still reeling over the wrestler's sudden death, aged 36.
The former Women's Champion was up against her rival, Zoey Stark, in a wild match. Throughout the battle, Lynch was met with interference from the Hall of Famer, Trish Stratus. But, she dug deep and eventually sent Stratus crashing through a table.
After pinning Stark for the win, Lynch held up her Bray Wyatt armband in memory of the late wrestler as the show went off the air. Fan footage then showed Lynch recalling the former world champion helping her the first time she was in Memphis, the site of the week’s Raw.
Elsewhere during the show, there was a video package dedicated to Wyatt before the arena was lit up with his ‘fireflies’. The crowd held up their phones to the empty rocking chair on the stage.
The night opened with Sami Zayn and Damian Priest in a great bout between two supremely talented stars. Although Kevin Owens and Judgment Day weren’t at ringside, there was still some interference from JD McDonagh, leaving Zayn open to the South of Heaven. McDonagh’s interference led to a backstage row between Priest and Finn Balor.
The Miz then impersonated LA Knight to hype his match at Payback this weekend. Drew McIntyre and Matt Riddle were on commentary as The Viking Raiders took on The New Day in a physical tag match. The two teams put on an impressive display, with plenty of chaos during the home stretch involving McIntyre and Riddle.
Chad Gable was in action against Ludwig Kasier in a blistering match, ultimately winning by disqualification. GUNTHER issued a warning to Gable as they prepare to face off next week before driving him into the mat with a powerbomb.
Finally, Seth Rollins called out Shinshike Nakamura, only for the Artist to appear in a package taking credit for the Visionary not being able to walk his daughter down the aisle in the future. Rollins then paid a nice tribute to Bray by saying ‘yowie wowie’ at the beginning of his promo.
It was a fitting night of Raw, paying tribute to a much-loved wrestler and paving the way for Payback this weekend.
