BBC Alba celebrates 100 years since the Hebridean islanders' migration to Canada.
Tomorrow marks the end of an eight-part series, Marloch is Metagama: Guthan, created by BBC Alba to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the great migration from the Outer Hebrides to North America. This incredible story can be experienced for the next 30 days on BBC iPlayer.

The SS Marloch and SS Metagama left from Lochboisdale and Stornoway respectively, carrying nearly 600 islanders off to a new life. The monologues are based on the stories of these brave adventurers, written by Iain Finlay Macleod and Hannah McKirdy.

BBC Alba noted that these two voyages were the final part of a centuries-long history of Scottish emigration to the US and Canada; today, there are millions of descendants of these settlers. From the night of their departure in April 1923, to their eventual arrival in Canada, Marloch is Metagama: Guthan shares many tales, including the joy of young Lewisman Murdo, and Mairi Anna’s struggles with the harsh Canadian winters.
